Sosa’s retirement plans

ESPN reports that Sammy Sosa has decided to retire after the next World Baseball Classic, which is scheduled to start in March of 2009. He wants to get the chance to represent his country before he calls it a career.

“That doesn’t mean I’m retiring. It’s not time for that yet.”

I think Sosa now realizes that with no approaching career milestones, he really doesn’t have much to offer a team. With all the available DH’s out there, he doesn’t have a shot at the MLB. He is pretty much a god in the Dominican, so it will be a good way for him to end his playing days.
