Anthony Reyes to be traded?

According to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Cardinals may be interested in trading right hander Anthony Reyes. It seems that he will not make the starting five of the Cardinals rotation. Instead, the club will most likely try to utilize him in a long relief role if he remains on the team.

Apparently scouts have been observing Reyes for the past few outings, and at his latest performance, there were representatives from ten different teams present. While his record was bad last year (2-14), a lot of that can be attributed to poor run support for most of the season. With the lack of starting pitching depth going around in the majors, I could see him finding a new home where there is an available starting job. The only other option if he is not traded or used in long relief would be for the Cards to send him down to the minors.

Reyes has shown flashes of greatness (he dominated game 1 of the world series) and he is only 26. If he can regain that form, he could be a great asset to a team willing to take a chance on him.
