Marcus Giles bumped by Nix

The Rocky Mountain News is reporting that 2B Marcus Giles isn’t going to be making the Rockies team. He was only signed to a minor league contract coming into camp this year. The Rockies other option was Nix, who will be getting the job over Giles.

IT is believed that that the Rockies will allow Giles to find another team that might be more interested in his services. Some interest has been shown by the Dodgers due to health issues with 2B starter Jeff Kent, and 3B options Nomar Garciaparra and Andy LaRoche. It would be wise for the Dodgers to add somebody because Nomar and Kent are both older and have had issues with recurring injuries. Giles could fill in at both spots, and it wouldn’t cost the Dodgers anything.
