Rockies closer gets deal
Manny Corpas now has a 4-year deal with the Colorado Rockies, according to The Denver Post. There are apparently 2 team option years that can be added to the end of the contract as well, and that could bring the contract’s total wealth to $22 million.
This is the longest contract that the Rockies have ever given to a relief pitcher, that being said, it is probably a good idea. With the way the market is going on talented closers, his price will surely skyrocket if he keeps up his performance. They are basically using the same strategy that they took with Tulowitzki, sign the young studs now, because that way we can actually afford them. It may be a small gamble, but why not take the chance on the player that you are familiar with that has come up through your system.
