Spiezio cut from Cardinals

Yahoo Sports announced that Scott Spiezio, a bench player for the St. Louis Cardinals, has been released in response to a warrant for his arrest being issued. It is apparently a six-count warrant stemming from a December car crash.

The warrant filed Tuesday alleges driving under influence, driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or more, hit and run, aggravated assault, assault and battery

Sounds like it was a crazy night, but here comes the double standard! Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t it the manager of the Cardinals (LaRussa) that just got a DUI last season? I guess its ok if you’re the manager…

  1. When you add this to the rehab last year as well as the crappy season I believe this is a tad bit different. Throw in the fact that there is no real indication that he was going to be good I and think it is pretty understandable why they let him go. However, I have to say he did play a big part in our world series win, therefore, I have to say I will miss the soul patch at Busch Stadium.

  2. Double standard? you can not compare LaRussa and Spiezio, Sorry. Also, I did not hear anything about warrants for LaRussa, he managed his error more professionally that Spiezio.
